Learning (also) with computers – 2nd open call

OLPC in Florina

Since September 2009, two Greek schools, the Sminthi High School and the 2nd Experimental High School of Florina, are using the OLPC XO-1 student laptops in one of their classrooms. In continuation of this pilot program, Re-public and the Greek Free/Open Source Software Company (ΕΕL/LΑΚ) extend an open call for the dispatch and use of 500 more OLPC XO-1 student laptops to Greek schools.

Online Exhibition – The Art of Human Enhancement

Following the publication of the special Issue «Transhumanism?», online journal Re-public calls for works in order to create an online exhibition website for artworks of any kind (but adaptable to the internet like, but not limited to, pictures, videos, comics, caricatures, drawing, digitalized paintwork…)

The theme is “Transhumanism” in the widest sense. Participants, amateurs and professionals, are invited to illustrate, comment, think and make people think about this theme with total liberty.

Wikipolitics (in Greek only)

Wikipolitics.gr is platform for collaborative politics that is implemented by Re-public in cooperation with the IT & new tecnologies department of PASOK ( is.pasok.gr ).


Wikipolitics.gr was launched in 2007 with an open web interview of George A. Papandreou (http://wikipolitics.gr/gap ) in cooperation with in.gr and the Greek daily TA NEA. In just 2 days, more than 50.000 users participated, publishing more than 1.000 questions and evaluating all of them. Papandreou addressed the question with the highest score.


In 2008 wikipolitics-parliament proposed a new form of deliberation: users and MPs collaborate in the preparation of parliamentary questions.
