Call for papers – Innovative service design for all

We invite contributions for our upcoming special issue (or issues, depending on the number and quality of submissions) entitled “Innovative service design for all”.

Service design lies in the centre of attention in contemporary, increasingly service-oriented knowledge economies. In such contexts, user experience is paramount, including both the interfaces and interactions that customers use to contact the service provider, as well as the back-office activities performed by the service provider. Given the complexity of services in modern, multicultural, networked societies and the criticality of their environmental impact, service design becomes a major issue for the years to come.

Papers submitted may deal with the theme from various disciplinary perspectives and may be about (but not restricted to) the following:

  • Critically assessing tools and methodologies currently used for the purposes of service design
  • Identifying and exploring challenges brought about by new types of services in a networked society
  • Discussing the role of service design reform for the preservation of natural resources
  • Exploring the process of re-designing public services in relation to the role of citizens and public servants as co-producers.
  • Conceptualizing desirable futures stemming from a new participatory service design culture
  • Analysing the political character of service design and its potential to generate social innovation

Essays should be approximately 1,500 words long.

Please submit contributions in any electronic format to issue editor Artemis Yagou:
